I’m Carlos, the owner of Obedient Tails Dog Training, based in Los Angeles. I was drawn to dog training through my own experience navigating reactivity and stress with my personal dog, which showed me how deeply a dog’s behavior can affect everyday life. That journey shaped my belief that effective training starts with understanding a dog’s state of mind and providing clear, calm guidance. Today, my focus is on helping dogs and their owners rebuild trust, confidence, and connection so life together feels more manageable and rewarding.
Why This Work Matters to Me
Benji is my personal dog, and for a long time his reactivity shaped nearly every part of our daily life, turning walks and public outings into tense, exhausting experiences. Working through those challenges showed me how easily a dog’s behavior can shrink both their world and their owner’s, and that reactivity isn’t about a “bad dog,” but a dog struggling to cope with their environment. Through structure, clear communication, and intentional guidance, Benji began to settle, gain confidence, and make better decisions—an experience that reshaped how I view training and relationships, and continues to drive my commitment to helping other owners find calm, trust, and freedom with their own dogs.
Behavior has Context
If walking your dog feels tense, unpredictable, or emotionally exhausting, you’re not alone. Many dogs carry experiences, stress, or habits that show up as reactivity, intensity, or an inability to settle, leaving owners feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next.
There are answers, and they don’t require giving up on your dog. With calm structure and intentional guidance, even challenging situations can become manageable again.
